YouGov: Points Mean Prizes
Sign up to YouGov and complete surveys to earn points!
Surveys are offered on all sorts of topics: for example, UK politics, or shopping. It usually takes around 10 - 15 minutes to finish a survey, and most are rewarded with 50 points.
Accumulate 5000 points and you'll earn a £50 cheque - not bad!

Maximise your MyLot earnings! (Part 2: Discussions)
If you have correctly managed your interests, you should see a number of threads which interest you when filtering discussions by 'my interests'.
Again, the key is: participate to accumulate.
Post in threads which interest you; topics about which you have plenty to say.
Why not start your own discussion?
Select an appropriate category for your post, and make it interesting!
To maximise earnings on MyLot, there are two main stragies when responding in discussions.
Quantity
Simply respond to as many threads as possible, in the shortest time. This can be effective, if you're able to type quickly, use multiple windows and can think of relevant things to say!
However, bear in mind:
Choose your discussions wisely: you need to be confident in your approach.
This strategy works best if you can convey passion in what you're saying - such that others feel inclined to respond, rate your own response and develop the discussion further.
Write at length; use advanced sentence structures and a wide vocabulary; again, make sure that what you write encourages a response.
If I were just starting out in MyLot, I would mix the two strategies.
There are initially restrictions on the use of smileys and copy / paste commands, in order to prevent abuse - however, once you've reached certain milestones, you can incorporate these features into your responses.
Quantity, then quality.

However, bear in mind:
- Don't just answer "yes" or "no" - it's important to actually contribute to a discussion. Be succinct, but keep it relevant.
- Say something that encourages a response.
- You will earn much less per post than if you'd typed out a longer, more detailed response - so if using this strategy, post quickly and post often!

Maximise your MyLot earnings! (Part 1: Sign Up)
As I suggested in an earlier post, my top tip is: participate to accumulate.
Once you've signed up (preferably through my referral link!), the first step is to manage your interests. There are dozens of categories - for example, 'Music groups or solo artists that I listen to' - and hundreds of choices within each category.
I recommend taking the time to add as many as possible; you'll then be linked to a much larger number of active discussions when you filter by your selected interests.
Next step - start talking!

There is no right or wrong...
A quick update: this thread has to be my favourite so far!
I've been able to indulge in my love of polemic, whilst earning pennies for my efforts: it makes me feel less guilty about wasting my life, arguing in circles...
Sign up to join the discussion!
I've also noticed that I've earned a lot more 'per post' on this thread than on others, where I've perhaps rattled off a quick one line riposte rather than take the time to express myself fully.
Participate to accumulate: it really is true that the more you contribute, the more you get out of it!

Talk is cheap...
MyLot is a social networking site that actually pays you for taking part!
You'll get paid for starting discussions, posting responses and / or comments to existing discussions and even uploading photos - talk about (almost) anything and earn cash!
MyLot has over 190,000 members at the last count - so why not sign up and join the community?
All posts that adhere to the MyLot discussion guidelines earn income. It doesn't matter whether you talk about God, good sex or what you had for dinner last night (all three?); however, a common complaint is that the income generated is too small - perhaps as little as $0.01 per post...
So: how do you make mega bucks?
Obviously, you have to sign up first!
But MyLot mathematicians guard their secrets carefully:
"Discussion activity earnings are calculated based on a proprietary model that rewards quality responses, relevant discussions and images."
What does this mean?
My interpretation: participate to accumulate.
Sign up through my referral link and I'll message you all my theories and suspicions... (Remember to put on your tin foil hat first!)
Without wishing to shatter dreams or illusions: you're not going to be able to retire on your earnings. But it is certainly possible to make a few bucks doing something that most of us enjoy - talking nonsense to strangers!
